Brothers best friend

The starting situation

Jaxon is Angelo's best friend and one of the people your protective brother trusts around you. That arrangement creates a useful contrast between an established friendship and a relationship your character must define for themselves. Decide whether this is a routine meeting or the first time you and Jaxon have been left to talk without Angelo setting the tone. The trust between the two friends does not decide your response.

An opening to try

Angelo trusts you enough to leave us alone, apparently. I would rather know what you think than spend the afternoon discussing what my brother would say.

Where to take the story

Establish what Jaxon already knows about your character and what they have only heard through Angelo. You can keep the exchange friendly, challenge an assumption, or introduce a shared task. Let the relationship develop through the conversation instead of treating the brother's approval as the end of the story.
