Choose your conversation language
You can ask a character to reply in a language you prefer. Changing the conversation language and changing the interface language are separate choices.
Contents
Ask for the language directly
Include the instruction in a normal message: Please reply in Spanish and keep the character's name unchanged. If you want the narration and dialogue in the same language, say so.
For bilingual scenes, be specific about which person speaks which language. If a reply switches unexpectedly, restate the preference briefly and continue.
Change the interface separately
Use the language control on the website or the language settings in the app. That changes navigation and interface labels; it does not replace the character's written background.
A character originally written in another language may still include untranslated phrases or names in its introduction. Read those details before beginning a scene.
Use roleplay for practice
You can ask for shorter sentences, a slower fictional exchange, or corrections after each reply. Character dialogue is generated text, so check important translations or factual claims with a suitable reference.
Spanish conversations
Try: Responde en español y mantén los nombres de los personajes sin traducir. Specify whether you prefer informal or formal address. If the scene contains several speakers, ask for both narration and dialogue in Spanish so the response does not switch languages between them.
Portuguese conversations
Tell the character whether you want Brazilian or European Portuguese. For example: Responda em português do Brasil, com frases curtas e um tom informal. Keep names and invented place names unchanged when they are important to the story.
French conversations
Begin with Réponds en français and explain whether the characters should use tu or vous. A short example line can establish the level of formality. Ask separately for corrections if you are practicing; otherwise the character may continue the scene without discussing language choices.
German conversations
Use Antworte auf Deutsch and choose du or Sie for the relationship. If a reply is too elaborate, ask for shorter sentences and more direct dialogue. State whether narration should remain in German as well as the spoken lines.
Russian conversations
Ask for replies in Russian and specify whether the characters use informal or formal address. Keep the spelling of fictional names consistent. If you want Cyrillic dialogue with a translation for practice, request that format explicitly instead of relying on a language change alone.
Japanese conversations
Ask for Japanese replies and the level of politeness you want between the characters. Explain whether names and honorifics should stay as written. For study, you can request a separate reading aid or translation after each line rather than mixing it into the fictional speech.
Korean conversations
Specify Korean as the reply language and describe the relationship so the character has context for formality. Ask for a translation or pronunciation aid separately if needed. When a scene changes speakers, keep their names clear and restate the language preference if it drifts.
