Begin with the conflict in the introduction
Look for the event that starts the story: an unexpected meeting, a disagreement, or information that has reached the wrong person. Decide what your character knows before replying.
A role such as leader, adviser, or outsider does not define a whole personality. Read the profile for how that particular character speaks and makes decisions.
Keep the focus on fictional choices
You can write a tense conversation without scripting every outcome. Ask a question, reveal one detail, or describe a decision your own character makes.
If you want a different opening, create an original adult cast and establish the relationships in the greeting. Keep any invented organization and setting clearly within the story.
